the blue of lake Michigan swallows we whole,

sorting through the thoughts of late,

overwhelmed by the complexity of crossing these large bodies of water,

we have promised men many things.

We set our sights on the clouds.

sleepless nights spent chasing the vision,

a vision of changing worlds through which we-painfully navigate each day.

we must aim for grace with each movement,

wish to write poetry with the rise and fall of each breaths.

perfection is attempted, simplicity must be noted & adored,

to live below the means

and above the dreams.

“Excuse me sir,…

May I take your portrait?…”

Against the backdrop of wars, of suffering, of anger, hunger & sadness

we are humans, searching for humanity.
